“At B. Braun everyone has the opportunity to develop their
potential through access to, and participation in, a range of learning
and development opportunities”
B. Braun realise that continued investment in our employees is
essential for the organisation to maintain and enhance the quality of
our products and services. The success of our business is dependent on
the skills and efforts of individuals.
By ensuring that each employee prepares for future challenges, this
in turn ensures that the employee is given the opportunity to achieve
their full potential at all levels and throughout all stages of their
career.
To support and encourage the ongoing education of employees B. Braun
has developed the B. Braun Business School. Within the Business School,
five key areas of staff development are offered to support the B. Braun
programme of lifelong learning and continuous professional development.
B. Braun Executive Business Academy (EBA)
Managers and executives are the key strategists and decision-makers
in our organisation; investment in their professional development is a
vital element of the B. Braun people-development strategy. The EBA is
designed to provide high performing managers with additional skills and
expertise to enhance their professional growth. The EBA consists of
individuals who have demonstrated their commitment to working
co-operatively within the senior management team and who consistently
deliver high levels of performance.
B. Braun Management Development Academy (MDA)
Managers and supervisors play a vital role in ensuring that B. Braun
continues to be the fastest growing health care provider in the UK. The
role of managing others requires a broad spectrum of skills and
abilities including delegation, coaching, influencing, sharing
expertise, communicating, developing others and performance management.
Some of the knowledge and skills that a manager is required to
demonstrate may come naturally, others will develop over time and in
order that employees are supported in the process, B. Braun has launched
the MDA. Open to new, established and aspiring managers and supervisors,
the MDA comprises a number of which allow the manager or supervisor to
develop into and exceed the requirements of their role.
B. Braun Sales Academy
B. Braun provides our sales force with a comprehensive training
programme that ensures our sales people are professional and proficient
in their roles. Learning is delivered in a variety of ways included
classroom-based training, e-learning, work shadowing, workshops and
coaching. We adopt a blended approach to development, matching the
learning preferences of the individual with the most appropriate methods
of learning delivery. The development of our sales people commences
during their Induction period with a flexible programme of learning and
development and continues throughout their career with us.
B. Braun First Line Professional Development (FLPD)
‘First Line Professional Development’ is the learning and development
that a B. Braun employee undertakes to ensure they have the skills,
knowledge and behaviours that are required for them to be effective in
their role. The term also addresses the learning stages that
individuals’ progress through when seeking to gain skills appropriate to
their next stage of career development. B. Braun is committed to
strengthening and sustaining a culture of continuous learning and
improvement in which organisational goals are achieved and learning
opportunities for our people are enhanced. We encourage individuals and
teams to work together within a collaborative environment, developing
and sharing innovative practices.
B. Braun Apprenticeship Scheme
Apprenticeships allow B. Braun to attract bright individuals by
offering the security of a paid job with future prospects. The
Apprenticeship Scheme enables us to develop tailored training packages
that equip our apprentices with the skills they need to succeed in the
organisation. For all apprenticeship routes, skills and knowledge
are attained through practical role-based training and theory /
knowledge-based training at an approved Vocational Training Centre. As
well as obtaining relevant Key Skills, NVQ or BTEC qualifications, on
completion of the programme apprentices are awarded a Completion
Certificate by the Training Provider.
Investors in People (IiP)
B. Braun is proud to have continuously held the Investors in People
Award since December 2001. IiP is a prestigious award, only granted to
companies that can prove their commitment to the very best practices in
business and in the development of their employees. Our ongoing
recognition by the IiP awarding body proves that B. Braun employees have
the right knowledge, skills and motivation to deliver an outstanding
contribution towards the success of our organisation. Our
Investors in People journey has reached a new level with the achievement
of the IiP BRONZE standard in July 2009. Only a tiny fraction of UK
organisations are able to qualify for this level of IiP – but our
journey doesn’t stop here. We have our eye firmly set on the ultimate
award – GOLD.
